MC Hammer said it best and now it’s time for the UOIT Dance Pack to follow in his dance steps and bust-a-move.
On March 27th the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre (CRWC) will be packed with college and university dance teams for the third annual B.A.M- Bust-a-Move dance competition.
B.A.M started in 2008 with the goal of providing a dance competition in Canada specifically for university and college students. One of the visions of B.A.M is to provide dancers with an affordable competition that allows them to celebrate their talent and showcase it to their peers.
Last year, a total of 13 University and College teams attended and the number of entries tripled from the previous year.
The UOIT Dance Pack consists of skilled dancers that compete and represent UOIT in university competitions. During a large part of the season, the dancers perform at Ridgebacks games during the varsity season.
They perform a variety of dance styles including hip-hop, ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical.
To showcase their routines for B.A.M, the dancers were the hosts for the “Dance Showcase” last Friday in the CRWC. They had the fans in the stands movin’ and groovin’ to their routines. It was a great way to get practice and show the fans all about dance and the hard work that goes into putting the routines together.
At last year’s B.A.M there was over three thousand dollars awarded to soloists, duets, trios and group dancers.
This year the event will include lunch for all dancers, private change rooms, free DVDs for all the dancers and comments from the video judge and great photos. The photos can be purchased at a later date.
