The Reel Music Festival Introduces Nick Glover
Story, Image and Video by Mike Terminesi
The Reel Music Festival is a student-run music and film show that features artists and bands that are in the Music Business Management program at Durham College. One of the artist playing in this festival is Nick Glover, a solo artist who loves making his music and after 7 or 8 years of playing, he has gotten pretty good.
“I play on Friday March 26th at 8,” said Glover. “I categorize myself as indy, folk pop. Basically, I just go up and I play acoustic music”. Glover has also played in a band called Black Light Oprah, which was a similar style of music that he plays now.
“Usually I get my inspiration from other artists and experiences I have in my life,” said Glover. “Things that are going on with my family and friends, and things that other people can relate to.”
Glover has a very unique sound when he writes his music. According to him, his influences are bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, Tegan and Sara, Say Anything, Matthew Good and Relient K. All in which are bands that have a very laid back, relaxed style.
Glover also does a good job at promoting himself. He has a Music MySpace page set up that has a custom layout and 9 songs available to listen to along with a YouTube and Twitter account so his fans can follow him on his journey into music.
